Sarah Geronimo

Sarah Geronimo is a Filipina singer and actress. Born in a poor family in Santa Cruz, Manila, Philippines, Geronimo first appeared on national television in 1992 on a children’s TV show Pen-Pen de Sarapen, and went on to star in ABS-CBN’s children’s show called Ang TV in 1996.

She gained fame when she joined a national singing competition called Star For A Night where she emerged as a Grand Champion of the show. After she won, she received 1 million in cash and a contract with Viva Management. Following her contract, Viva’s owner Vicente Del Rosario became her manager.She established herself as a pop artist in the Philippines when she released her first album, Popstar: A Dream Come True, where she recorded her first singles Forever’s Not Enough, If Only, and Sa Iyo.

In 2004, she entered ABS-CBN and become part of a musical variety show called ASAP, which aired very Sunday. She also played the starring role like Bituing Walang Ningning and Pangarap Na Bituin, where she was recognized as an actress but with the role as a singer in both series. She starred a movie A Very Special Love in 2008, and it grossed up to PHP 179,569,117. In February 2009, Geronimo reprise her role in A Very Special Love in the movie You Changed My Life in 2009, where the gross of the movie is PHP 230,436,128 and it considered as “The Highest Grossing Filipino Movie Of All Time” (see: List of highest-grossing films in the Philippines). Both movies starred with Geronimo and Filipino actor John Lloyd Cruz. Combining the gross of both movies, Geronimo and Cruz made PHP 410,005,245 movie gross.

Aside of doing several albums, Geronimo staged several concerts including “The Other Side”, “Sarah In Motion”, “The Next One”, and “Record Breaker”. She staged tours on each concerts to Philippines, US, and Europe. She released her first solo Christmas album, Your Christmas Girl, in October 2009, followed by her sixth studion album, Music and Me. On December 1, 2009, Sarah Geronimo has received a star on the Philippines Walk of Fame at Libis, East­­wood.

On early 2010, Geronimo is scheduled to shoot a new film along with Judy Ann Santos with the title of Hating Kapatid.
